HISTORY:

The Troupe was created in 1995 in Mombasa. They were group of 6 acrobats, former members of the Kenyan National Ensemble "Bomas of Kenya", Nairobi. They started performing in African tourism destinations (first class hotels at Kenyan Coast and Nairobi, Seychelles, Zanzibar, Mauritius) and for a short period of time they become famous in Kenya close countries. The following years they were performing in Europe (circus and theatres, movie production, promotion campaigns) - Cyrk Korona of Poland, the National Wintercircus Martin Hansen of the Netherlands, Serengeti Park in Hamburg, Germany 1996-1998, Ambelle River Circus in Italy 1998, in Circus Festival in France 2000. Since 2000 they live and perform in US – Animal Kingdom Park, Ringling Brothers Circus, Circus Mondial, Aladdin Hotel-Casino in Las Vegas (Desert passage).

PERFORMANCE:
The Mombasa Troupe performs a variety of breathtaking artistic stunts, usually in groups of 6 acrobats. This has been the traditional set-up since the ancient times Mijikenda artists entertained the people at the court of the Sultan of Mombasa. The acrobatic show displays various elements like rope skipping, acrobatic pyramids, limbo dance, and yoga.

Costumes: The acrobats wear splendid attires on stage. The costumes collection and stage properties reach from strictly traditional African to imaginative designs.

Limbo Dance:
The acrobats got their professional training and performance experience at the Kenyan National Ensemble "Bomas of Kenya" in Nairobi. Authentic steps, songs, rituals and attires of various Kenyan ethnics in the vivacity, in the ease and natural elegance of East Africa are guaranteed.

In spite of its serious historical origin as dangerous chance for slaves to gain freedom they perform this fire dance with an easy and humorous attitude.

Pyramids: Building tall human pyramids and changing their shapes very fast is one of the main elements of the gymnastics show.

Rope Skipping: While two acrobats make the 10 meters rope rotate at high speed the others perform a variety of flicflacs, push-ups, somersaults and breakneck leaps.
